UNIZAR NEWS, Mataram – The Abdurrahim Auditorium at Universitas Islam Al-Azhar (UNIZAR) became a hub of international collaboration as it hosted two prestigious events: the 23rd Malaysia-Indonesia Conference on Economics, Management, and Accounting (MIICEMA) and the inaugural 1st International Lombok Conference 2024, on Wednesday (14/08/24) and Thursday (15/08/24).
As the host, UNIZAR welcomed distinguished speakers from various countries, bringing global perspectives to the meaningful and in-depth discussions. Among the speakers at the 23rd MIICEMA were Prof. Hurriyet Babacan from James Cook University, Australia; Prof. Firman Menne, S.E, M.Si, Ak., CA, CTA, ACPA from Universitas Bosowa; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hakimi Mohd Shafiai, Deputy Dean of the Industry and Community Partnership Secretariat; and Dr. Herie Saksono from UNIZAR. These sessions were moderated by Dr. Vegalyra Novantini Samodra, ST., MM, who also served as the event’s Chairperson.
The 1st International Lombok Conference 2024 featured speakers such as Assoc. Prof. Datin Dr. Nor Liza Abdullah, Gunawan Baharuddin, Ph.D., CERA, CHRA from Universitas Pancasila, and dr. H. Danang Nur Adiwibawa, Sp.KJ., SH from UNIZAR. The discussions were moderated by drg. Abdillah Adipatria B. Azhar, M.Biomed. These speakers provided deep insights into the challenges and opportunities across various fields, from economics to medicine.
The event was attended by key figures, including the Chairman of the Pesantren Luhur Al-Azhar Foundation, Dr. Ir. H. Nanang Samodra, KA., M.Sc, and his wife; the Chairman of the UNIZAR Academic Senate, Dr. Drs. H. Sahar, SH., MM; UNIZAR Rector, Dr. Ir. Muh. Ansyar, MP; as well as Vice Rectors and Deans from various faculties at UNIZAR. Their presence underscored the importance of this event in strengthening academic collaboration and cross-country research.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Vegalyra Novantini Samodra, ST., MM reported that the total number of active participants in the event reached 218, including in-person and online participants from various countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, and Nigeria. “We are proud to announce that UNIZAR is now hosting its first International Seminar, encompassing various academic activities and international community service,” she said.
Sugito, S.Sos., MH, Director General of Village and Rural Development of Indonesia, in his speech, highlighted the importance of sustainable and competitive village development. He praised UNIZAR for organizing an international conference with a focus on village development, which is expected to generate innovative ideas to accelerate village development in Indonesia.
The Chairman of the Pesantren Luhur Al-Azhar Foundation, Dr. Ir. H. Nanang Samodra, KA., M.Sc, also expressed his appreciation to the delegates and speakers who attended from various countries. “Your presence here reflects the strength of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing knowledge in economics, management, and accounting. I am confident that this year’s conference will continue to build upon this rich legacy. The theme of our conference underscores the importance of understanding and addressing economic issues within the context of our respective nations, and I look forward to the insightful discussions and collaborations that will emerge from these sessions,” he said.
